WCBCV -- The delegation of the Holy See, led by Monsignor Antoine Camilleri, the Holy See Secretariat for Relations with States, arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday evening, September 7, to visit Archbishop Paul Bùi Văn Đọc, president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam (CBCV) and prepare for the fifth meeting of bilateral commission in Hanoi. Upon his arrival, Monsignor Camilleri was warmly welcomed by Archbishop Đọc. In the companion of Archbishop Đọc, the Holy See delegation spent a full day, September 8, meeting with all representatives of the clergy, religious and laity of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City before heading north to Hanoi for official meetings with Vietnamese authority on September 10 and 11.
(Vatican Radio) The Head of the Holy See Press Office, Father Federico Lombardi SJ issued a declaration on Friday confirming that the Vietnam-Holy See Joint Working Group will hold its fifth meeting in Hanoi from September 10th to 11th.
WCBCV -- (30 Aug. 2014) The diocese of Mỹ Tho was greatly joyful to welcome and receive her new shepherd, Bishop Peter Nguyễn Văn Khảm. His installation gathered more than a thousand faithful from his home archdiocese of Hồ Chí Minh City and diocese of Mỹ Tho where he took on his new shepherdship.
WCBCV -- The Church in Vietnam celebrated the 30th National Congress of Our Lady of La Vang in the archdiocese of Huế from August 13 to 15, 2014. The National Congress of Our Lady of Lavng is celebrated triennially. The pastoral theme of the Church in Vietnam this year, “New Evangelization of the Family,” was also the theme for the Congress.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop of Mỹ Tho, Việt Nam (area 9,262, population 5,280,320, Catholics 126,560, priests 125, religious 282) Bishop Pierre Nguyễn Văn Khảm.
